Dear Whittier Families,
As we near our Thanksgiving holiday, I would like to share some things that I am thankful for at Whittier Elementary:
Gratitude is happiness doubled by wonder. That is a perfect reflection of what I have experienced during my time here at Whittier Elementary School. Every day, I am moved and inspired by what I see. Every day, I marvel at the incredible devotion of our staff and their unique ability to teach and inspire our children in a virtual setting. Every day, I celebrate the amazing support of our parents and community. I am thankful that Whittier continues to strive for excellence in each and every classroom and to Embrace, Educate & Empower all students.
In addition, I am very thankful for the safety and wellbeing of all Whittier students, staff and parents. Together, we will continue to build on our prior successes and dedicate ourselves to moving the school forward in a positive direction by providing the highest quality education for every student. I would like to thank you for your continued support during these uncertain times. Most importantly, we want you to know that we miss our students and are working hard to provide them with meaningful connections and relevant instruction until we can return in person.
In an effort to improve communication, all teachers are utilizing ClassDojo to keep you informed about your child’s progress during online instruction. Also, please keep your Aeries Parent Portal account up to date with accurate contact information. If you need assistance with this, the front office staff can assist you in making necessary changes to your account. Lastly, please check the school website for important announcements, information and links to school related info at http://whittier.hemetusd.org/ Improved communication is our goal and we will continue to offer various choices so that information can be shared successfully.
Please mark your calendar with the following information: Thanksgiving break will take place from Monday, November 23, 2020 through Friday, November 27, 2020 (no school all week). Please enjoy this time with family and friends, and be thankful for all that you have.
In closing, please take the time to share with your children the importance of gratitude. We often forget the significance of the holidays, and too often view it as just a day off. Gratitude means feeling thankful and appreciative for what you already have. By recognizing what we are grateful for, we can multiply our happiness and wellbeing. By focusing on the positive things in your life, you end up feeling better. Gratitude isn't just being thankful for the big things in your life, though. It's about, learning to notice all the little things that happen that you can be happy about, too. Thanksgiving allows us to reflect and acknowledge the good that you already have in your life. Enjoy the holiday season and the time to reflect on its true meaning.
Warmly,
Jeff Keeney
Principal
