Thanksgiving Break (NO SCHOOL)

Dear Whittier Families,

As we near our Thanksgiving holiday, I would like to share some things that I am thankful for at

Whittier Elementary:

I am thankful for students who eagerly come to school prepared to absorb as much as possible

each and every day.

I am thankful for outstanding teachers and staff who go above and beyond to provide students with the guidance and tools necessary for success.

I am thankful for parents who commit their time and energy to provide valuable assistance in the classroom and at home.

In addition, I am very thankful for the safety and wellbeing of all Whittier students, staff and parents. With that in mind, parents and other adults can do much to guarantee traffic safety around Whittier Elementary School by driving cautiously and reducing speed, teaching children safe practices, utilizing crosswalks, and obeying all traffic laws. Together we can ensure a safe tomorrow for our children today. Please be extra cautious and patient when driving in and around campus and follow the directions of all staff, thank you!

In an effort to improve communication, please follow me on Twitter (@Keeney50). Enjoy the numerous posts that highlight the amazing opportunities Whittier students experience daily. Also, please keep your Aeries Parent Portal account up to date with accurate contact information. Lastly, please check the school website for important announcements, information and links to school related info at http://whittier.hemetusd.org/ Improved communication is our goal and we will continue to offer various choices so that information can be shared successfully.

Please mark your calendar with the following information: Thanksgiving break will take place from Monday, November 20, 2017 through Friday, November 24, 2017 (no school all week). Please enjoy this time with family and friends, and be thankful for all that you have.

In closing, please take the time to share with your children the importance of the holidays. We often forget the significance of this special time, and too often view it as just a day off. Thanksgiving allows us to reflect on how fortunate we are to live in this wonderful country. As you gather for Thanksgiving with family and friends, please be sure to give thanks and share what you are grateful for this year. Enjoy the holiday season and the time to reflect on its true meaning.

Warmly,

Jeff Keeney

Principal
